Approach - As a Person-Centred counsellor, my approach would always start with the individual client, not their presenting problem or mental health diagnosis. Each client brings a unique 'envelope' of issues and experiences into the counselling room, which has shaped who they are today and needs to be explored at their own pace. I would always aim to gain a full understanding of what has brought the individual to seek therapy, whether that involves a detailed exploration of their past or whether they prefer to focus on a solution-based approach to their current issues. No two clients are alike, and I will adapt our way of working together to suit each person. Together we will agree on the aims of your personal therapy, whether you have a particular goal or whether you just want to feel happier in general. As the client, you are the expert on your own life and I will support you to achieve the outcomes you want from counselling.
